10TH INTERNATIONAL FILM MUSIC COMPETITION 2022: AND THE WINNER IS … ROBERT IJSERINKHUIJSEN!

 

The Dutch composer Robert IJserinkhuijsen is the winner of the 10th International Film Music Competition 2022, which took place at Tonhalle Zurich on 29 September 2022 during the 18th Zurich Film Festival. IJserinkhuijsen received the Golden Eye “Best International Film Music 2022” endowed with a 10 000 Swiss franc cash prize.

The award ceremony took place during a film music concert. Under the baton of Frank StrobelZurich Tonhalle Orchestra world-premiered the compositions of the three finalists and performed pieces by jury president Rachel Portman. During the same evening the British film composer recieved the ZFF’s Career Achievement Award. Sandra Studer took the audience through the evening.

 


 

The three finalists were:

 

Nicolò Braghiroli
(Italy)
Elliot Murphy
(Ireland)

 

The shortlisted three were chosen in a first round by an international expert jury (see below) out of 218 participants from 42 countries. Entrants were asked to write a symphony orchestra score for the 6‑minute short film THE FOUNDLING by Barney Cokeliss. The submission deadline was on 6 June 2022.
